This park is absolutely stunning! If you are a first time visitor, I highly recommend hiking along the ledges or enjoying a picnic in the unique Octagon shelter house. Or even at the beautiful Ledges shelter house where you can enjoy the warmth of a fireplace and the outdoors all at once (if you rent it) The park is always clean and the staff (rangers & maintenance alike) are super friendly!
My fiance & I rented the Ledges Shelter House for our wedding reception, sadly they do not have enough staff/time to give you a tour so you are renting blindly (my only complaint). However, the maintenance crew was doing some work on the shelter when I went to take some pics/measurements and James & another man were so friendly and helpful- they let me into the shelter house after I told them I was getting married there so that I could take pics & plan things out.
Even the bathrooms are always kept clean! And there's other sections worth exploring as well. They offer a great hill for sledding with a barrel for a fire that anyone can enjoy. There's also a bat cave (sadly this has been closed for 2 yrs due to a harmful fungus that's killing the bats) and a covered bridge (great area for creek walking!).
My father and I used to work as camp counselors for the park many, many years ago- their summer camp offers clean cabins and is great for any child who lives in the city and doesn't get to enjoy nature often enough. And of course, lots of art related projects, guided tours, etc... Hands down my favorite park in Ohio!!!
