I love yoga and I love hiking so when I saw hiking yoga on Groupon I was all in. I didn't really know what to expect so my expectations were low but I was very impressed with my experience.
I went to the South Mountain location on Sunday morning. There was a group of maybe 15 of us. We set out on a rather challenging trail. At least more challenging than what I thought it would be like. This trail has lots of ups and downs so expect some steep inclines. A few people in the group struggled with the intensity of the hiking so if you've never really hiked before be aware.
We hiked for a bit then stopped to do some yoga. It was all standing positions so relatively easy to do on a mountain top. Then we hiked more. Stopped for more yoga. HIked more. Last time with yoga we ended with a sitting meditation. Being outside with the wind and the sun made it very relaxing. Overall the session was a little over 1.5 hours.
I thought I would feel tired but I actually felt very energized. The hiking was challenging - I was breathing heavy and feeling it in my legs more than once. But throwing in the yoga is a great way to break up the cardio and leaves you feeling great.
I'm definitely looking forward to my next session.
