| - I have the Backstreet Boys to thank for introducing me to the Axis Theater. I came twice for their 2017 residency concerts - the intended trip in June with my fellow BSB fans and an unplanned hey-there's-tickets-available-let's-go-to-Vegas-one-day-early visit in March.
The theater itself is smaller than I thought so seats are closer than you think. The Backstreet Boys is the first residency with enough sales to warrant opening the balcony seats, but I think the orchestra seats are the best spots to get. My seats were in the rear orchestra (the 200s) for both concerts and both times I did not feel that I was too far back. Of course, with the nature of BSB's concerts, they do come through the audience sometimes too, so that helps (the group performs in between the 200s and 100s section during All I Have to Give).
The Axis Theater is Inside Planet Hollywood's Miracle Mile area, with its entrance right across from casino entrance and the Halo Bar. The spot is convenient if you're staying at PH, where you'd just walk down from your hotel room, cross the casino floor, and exit towards the bar. However, from my experience at both concerts, the location lends to a lot of crowds when the concert starts and ends. Doors opened at 8 pm and already by then, the line to get into the venue and through security snaked all along the Miracle Mile Shops. It was at the point where we were waiting near the entrance of Elara! Of course, after the concert ends, everyone is leaving and with the Halo Bar smack in front of the Axis entrance/exit and with Axis selling the pictures they took of you as you enter the theater, there was plenty of bottlenecks.
I didn't spend time venturing around so I'm not sure if there are more nooks and crannies hidden in the theater. Once you enter and walk down the stairs, merchandise is sold on the right, women's restrooms are on the left, and in front of you is the Axis Theater's bar for you to buy drinks.
The Backstreet Boys' residency in Vegas has been extended into 2018, with dates in November 2017 and February 2018, so I may be back again at the theater for another round!
