  • Oddly, this German restaurant opened next to Bavarian Point. You have 2 choices for German food in the same strip mall. This one is inferior to the other. There is very little variety here. The majority of the dishes are wienerschnitzel served with varying gravies. This strikes me as a restaurant opened by a Midwestern family that may be of German descent a long way back. They make a good effort, but it is far from authentic. The food is not bad, but not great either. It is usually a little bland, overcooked and most things taste like they were prepared and kept in a steamer. This place is a popular choice for the seniors in the area as it may be cheaper than Bavarian point. It also has a lot less flavor. The service is also not great in my experience. The first time I ate here I waited 45 minutes for my check. There was a Snowbird singing a German Polka song with a very bad accent in broken German while playing his accordion. The servers were nowhere to be seen. I missed the one that had her back to us and ignored my attempts to get her attention. I finally had to go wait up front. They told me that they don't bring the check, you have to ask for it when you are ready to pay! Lucky I wan't in a hurry. I figured I'd give them a few more chances, because sometimes your first dining experience isn't the best and they just had a bad night. Sometimes you order the wrong thing as well. After going there 3 times and trying a variety of items (shared with my girlfriend) I arrived at the same conclusion. In a pinch this will do. When there is a far superior German restaurant in the same strip mall? Go to Bavarian point instead. The Chef at Bavarian Point has a strong passion for Germanic Food. He is actually Austrian. Not only is the menu robust and delicious, his specials are amazing! The specials are not a way to get rid of older product like most restaurants. He enjoys making unique dishes to serve. He makes the most amazing Lamb tenderloins, chops and shanks! The veal and pork Osso bucco are to die for! He also makes a great rabbit in wine sauce! The Jagerschnitzel is amazing! He is an amazing Chef who is very passionate about serving delicious food, cooked perfectly every time! Zur Kate just doesn't measure up! Take it from someone who has actually lived in Germany and Austria (a total of 5 years)! Not on an Army base and not just someone who went there on a vacation. Bavarian Point is the best most authentic German Food in the valley! Go there instead!
