| - I dated the following neighborhoods in Pittsburgh:
- Oakland: where colleges are. You can't park there!
- Shadyside: modern and hip, but you can find a street like this in almost any city.
- Squirrel Hills: cuisine flavors galore; yet you can find a similar spot in other cities.
- Lawrenceville: sort of the hipster artistic neighborhood of Pittsburgh. So nice and full of interesting eateries and coffee shops, like Espresso A Mano.
- South side: where college people hang out. Urine and beer are here.
- North Shore: the sport district where Pirates and Steelers stadiums reside.
And finally, I found the best spot exactly where my headquarters are, the Strip District. After five months of staying in Pittsburgh, my lovely neighbor pushed me to explore it! I didn't expect I would like such a place!. It has so much character that it's hard to find in other cities. It's old, historic, vibrant, rich in red brick buildings, has numerous charming places that will keep you thrilled. There is an old church with golden small domes that reminds me with one of my favorite movies, The Departed.
Apart from amazing people and friends I know in this city, there are few awesome things I love here:
1- Biking from 21st St to the North Shore Park, crossing 16th St bridge and viewing the entire city are just exhilarating! Never get bored!.
2- Kaya's burger and spicy chocolate lava cake (This cake is a must).
3- Saturday morning fresh coffee from La Prima Espresso when the Italian dudes gather around..
The downside is 80% of places close around 5 pm. So there is little going on for bats like me in the Strip.
My neighbors caught some celebrities like Brad Pitt and Charlize Theron at our neighborhood sipping some booze at Bar Marco.. I say if you're visiting Pittsburgh, you should check out this neighborhood.
