Glad to report that the bar hasn't really changed since the switch. The bartender on duty this evening is one of the old Q de C crew, they still play relatively tolerable music, still pour Evian when you ask for water, still keep a bottle of Bowmore in plain sight....and the Tanqueray Ten martinis are still crisp and cold. Same crowd of ageing, slightly seedy see-and-be-seen suits and skirts, too. Just be prepared to pay New York prices for your drink, and you'd better be okay with cigar smoke. But if those are tolerable conditions for you, it's still a reliable place for a (relatively) quiet, (relatively) peaceful, grown-up drink. And you can still get in dressed like a L'Equipeur model, if you're polite.
One of these days, I've gotta eat a steak here.
