| - Don't let the average rating deter you from trying them in Chinatown. Yes, service isn't going to be spectacular or super friendly, but the food is ok.
I'll be honest, the food wasn't as tasty or great as back in LA.
The salted fish and chicken fried rice didn't have any salted fish flavor and the chicken was rubbery. In LA, there might be variations that have shredded lettuce cooked with it and maybe that would have made this dish better.
The fish filet with veggie dish was average, nothing special. There was definitely more fish than veggies.
The beef with green onion dish was average as well. We were joking that this dish might taste good as a sandwich later on.
The pan fried chow fun was decent, but was oily like it normally should be for a dry noodle dish.
Sam Woo is know for their chopped meats (char siu, duck, chicken, cuttlefish, etc). When we ordered the char siu and fish combo, I was kind of disappointed because the dish was small and the cuts for duck weren't very meaty (mainly bones).
On the plus side, they serve their tea with very large tea cups!!!
