| - I started my Taekwon-do experience many years ago in Colorado. It was an International Taekwon-do Federation style school. I loved it. Great workout, great ethics and great people but life smacked me hard and after a number of years I had to give it up.
Fast forward 25+ years and I finally made time to go back. It was a Groupon that lead me to Karstadt Taekwon-do. I met with Master Karstadt, he stated I can retain my rank and go from there. I was flattered but it had been too long and I decided to start over. Best move. Master Karstadt's curriculum is far more extensive then my previous training. The workouts are very structured. Basic hand and foot techniques, patterns, step sparring (precursor to free sparring), self defense and then some free sparring. And included in all that the tenets are integrated. Courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit.
OK, I'm sounding like a commercial. Straight up I love Karstadt Taekwon-do. The instructors, the workouts, the ethics and the people. Everything I need with this kind of commitment. Just like I had before but better. They are great with kids and adults. I'm pretty amazed on how they adapt the curriculum for both. In October I will celebrate 3 years and counting with Master Karstadt and have witnessed first hand how his school has improved many of his students conditioning, confidence and spirit. Including mine.
