Yikes, this place is bleak! I booked 3 nights thinking I'd have a great hostel experience on a budget. Instead I spent a night here and it felt like a cross between a homeless shelter and a crack house (I decided not to stay the other 2 nights even though I already paid). Las Vegas has a dirty underside with many homeless, low income transients, drug addicts, etc. and you will see this side first hand since it's the cheapest place in town and also a sketchy neighborhood. It's dirty, smelly, and a bit scary. It might have been tolerable if there were cool people staying there but not a good vibe at all even though it has potential, I just think the clientele leans too much towards transients and homeless. I thought maybe the free breakfast would make up for it in the morning but some loud men were frying the smelliest fish possible in the kitchen and it stank the whole hostel up, couldn't bare the smell and had to get out. Felt like a horror movie.
I wouldn't want to stay here as a women especially and saw only a couple of them here. Most of the people were not travelers but down and out men. I moved to the El Cortez hotel downtown and was SO much happier there, thank god I got out of that place, it still gives me the creeps.
