Being fair skinned, I've spent thousands on sunless tanning to keep my skin looking youthful and avoiding tanning beds for the most part. I get a base tan on my body, won't tan my face and use spray tanning to give me the boost I need for a more tanned look without the damage of continuing to lay to achieve a darker look.
So, being new to the area I tried Ultra Tan due to the promotion I had received notice of. The promotion was the first spray tan being $9.99. Typically I tan with VersaSpa systems, they do multiple passes and have a nice smell. Simple.
UltraTan uses the Mystic Tan system. Due to the promotional rate, I gave it a shot. I gave my information and was asked what color I want; light, medium, or dark. We decided dark would yield the best results. She went on to offer color boosters and scents, failing to ever mention the were available at an extra charge until my total came to newly $40. I asked what happened to the promotional rate and she said that was only good for the light color and no extras. She then discounted the higher cost down to I think $28 or so. I went along with it thinking this is probably better than what I've been doing.
The employee then made me a video in the waiting are. Awkward.
I went and tanned. I got a single pass on all 4 sides of my body (rather than at least 6 passes with VersaSpa system).
End result was streaky, uneven coloring and I smelled like spray tan the same and next day. There was absolutely no difference had there been no scents added. I was only able to smell the scent while the spraying was happening. Afterward, no scent other than spray tan smell.
I looked up the closest tanning salon with a VersaSpa system and it's in Charlotte. I do a better job than the Mystic Tan system sunless tanning by going across the street to Ulta and buying a mousse and spray bottle of self tanner by St. Moriz totaling $24 for both for multiple uses.
I'll definitely return to UltraTan for their tanning beds while I wait on my tanning bed to hooked up.
