I became a fan of cannoli since i travelled to Sicily. It is made with a sweet crunchy tube which are filled with a whipped cream or creamy ricotta filling, often flavored with nuts or cocoa. This is a very traditional dessert in Sicily. The cannoli is super fresh and crispy, not soggy at all like the ones sold at grocery stores. They also serve with chocolate filling or ricotta topped with chopped pistachios, but I prefer sticking with the original version -- sweetened ricotta flavored just with lemon.
As far as the shop itself, very lively and busy on a Saturday afternoon, with a total of 4 Italian women behind the glass counters. most customers entering the shop after I did ordered cannoli: a dozen, half a dozen, etc. it kind of reassured me about that the choices I made at my first experience. We would not go wrong with cannolis!!!
