They are a rip off!
The doctor was nice and always wanted to make sure he was giving the "best care". Of course the best care was always the most expensive but that's how it goes. Dr. Owens has good bedside manner and explained the situation and answered all of our questions so my husband and I could understand. However, if for some reason you can't follow his exact plan he will have the " I told you so attitude".
I took my cat in as a "blocked tom" they wanted to put him on a catheter for 3 days which he insisted was the least amount of time to ensure all was good. Let me say that was with catching the blockage early on.
We transported him every morning and evening from their urgent care to the valle verde animal hospital (they have a medical transport for an extra $75 each way) my Husband and I are a young couple and we could only do so much financially. During the last transport my cat ripped out his own catheter which in my opinion was in too long anyways.
Not only did we end up with a $2,500 bill some out of pocket but our cat got home and ended up being sick again with the exact same thing. This time it was much worse and we thought he wouldn't make it.
We ended up taking him to a different vet who only put a catheter in for 36 hours monitored him for 2 whole days. We didn't have to transport him they house him even over New Year's eve and only cost $900.
