I'll admit, I love amusements parks but sadly Montreal has a sad sack attraction on 'Ile St-Helene' named 'La Ronde'. I used to enjoy it more when I was younger but over the years I've visited other amusement parks and La Ronde doesn't measure up.
The amusement park is simply too small to serve the local population, they try to mark up their ticket prices to the heavens and people still come here in masses and wait around aimlessly all day to get on a ride. The food/prices prices are criminal and they know they can rake you in the eyes since you have no where else to go to eat/drink as you're on a random island in the middle of the St-Lawrence river.
The rides are fun but they're showing their age, so many of them are under repair at all given times I wonder if the city sent its construction workers here instead of actual construction sites. Maybe they'll explain the thousands of abandoned cones found across the island over the last few months. But hey, the rides are fun!
That is, if you can get to enjoy them. Make sure to get there early because once the afternoon comes in, expect to wait. I hope you like waiting because you'll be waiting a lot. An hour? Two hours? Yep! All for a 5 minute ride. Insane.
You think I went on a weekend? Try a cloud-ish Thursday. In September. What gives? This place is just too small. They need to only have a certain # of guests at a time, how is this any fun? Really.
Wonderland was amazing. Longest wait I had? 30 minutes for the newest ride. Everything else? 5 to 10 minutes. Sometimes some rides had NO WAIT TIME. So we did that like 5 times in a row! At La Ronde? You'll do 5 rides TOTAL.
And what's up with paying more money for specific rides? Are you insulting my intelligence?
No thanks.
