  • CHANGED MY LIFE Seriously there are no words to describe how amazing of an experience EDC was for me. Let me start by saying I was skeptical. Every year my friends plan for EDC and always attend, and based off of what I thought I knew, I decided it wasn't for me. Had you told me, I would be in the desert in extreme temperatures with loud music and a bunch of people on drugs, I would have told you hell no. Boy was I wrong. EDC is AMAZING. Seriously. If I could choose one experience in time, and re-live it for 50 first dates, it would be my EDC weekend. Seriously it changed my life. EDC is one of many events that is controlled by Insomniac LLC. Other events include, Nocturnal Wonderland, Escape Wonderland, Beyond Escape, etc; but EDC is their main event in my opinion. Tickets: Tickets are in the form of a wristband that you buy from insomniac either ahead of time online, or at will call and are usually around $400-500 (worth it) The Event: EDC is a festival that lasts 3 nights over the course of a weekend Fri-Sunday. The festival begins at 7pm and lasts until around 6am, and consists of multiple stages showcasing different artists/DJ of the EDM genre. There are a variety of stall selling different types of food and alcohol all of which are pretty pricey (what do you expect for a music festival) Transportation: The festival itself is held at the Las Vegas Motor track that is about an hour outside of the strip. Most people stay on the strip and either commute to the venue with a group, or take a shuttle. (I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE SHUTTLE). The shuttle picks you up at a set location and shuttles you to and from the venue back to your pickup location. The lines are long and the shuttle pass is around $100, but trust me its worth it. If you choose to commute traffic can be excruciating, sometimes up to 2-3 hours unless you leave super early. Temperatures vary but for the most part are extreme in the 90s-100s, plus you dance the night away and if you happen to be under the influence you will dehydrate easily. It is imperative that you drink water and hydrate often. Most rave goers are aware of this. All of this taken into account, I can honestly say I have never enjoyed a music festival more. I have been to raves before, but I found EDC to be amazing. The people are nice, the staff are well trained and the event is extremely organized. If I had to say one major complaint it would be the cell reception. You're in the middle of the desert with 500k (literally) other people. It is sometimes impossible to get a signal and even if you do, it may take an hour or so for the text message to go through. It would be great if wifi was available but it didn't ruin my experience. I will be going again every year for the rest of my life! I LEFT MY HEART AT EDC!
