This is officially known as Thunderbird Conservation Park (to distinguish it from Thunderbird Paseo Park, which is also in the same city) and is Glendale's only mountain preserve. I find this to be a good place for hikers who want gentle, well-marked trails and do not want to deal with more strenuous, steeper climbs such as would be found in Camelback or Piestewa Peak. There are ample parking spaces, scenic views, and several large, clean picnic ramadas are available near the parking areas.
