Sonic is one of the best little hipster joints in the district, and probably more hipster than most of the coffee shops and bars in Kensington Market. Sonic is tucked on the other side of Spadina in a corner off Chinatown, in a little space that almost seems abandoned. Yup.
The crowd, including the bartender, are positively hipsters. Included in the hipster package are the good music and beer selections, well-crafted coffee, and slightly awkward interactions. Overall, a very good experience relative to what you normally get in Toronto.
The setting in this place is another big bonus. It's got such a rustic and homey feel that you can't help but be relaxed in there. There's also a little patio area out front for you to hang out on those rare days where it's actually sunny outside.
