| - I stayed three nights at the Westin with a group for a conference. The staff was courteous in all of my interactions with them, which were few. The room was tiny for the amount of money that we were paying, but it was clean.
I was a bit upset that their website advertised in-room refrigerators, but the only fridge was the mini-bar which required a hotel staffer to open (and which was labelled as being 'not for guest items'). Having specific dietary requirements, I had planned on using the fridge to purchase small items that i could snack on during the conference that I was attending.
I was also extremely upset at the cost of the dining options at the Westin, as well as the charges for *every* service that they offered. This hotel was a bit of a splurge for me, even sharing it with some friends. Two cups of coffee per room per day, extras can be purchased. Internet (slow!) only available in the lobby, in-room you have to pay for it. Ridiculous charges for room service, and the cost of the food itself was astronomical! NINE DOLLARS for a bowl of oatmeal in the morning, or $20 if you wanted the breakfast buffet. I would have been happy to pay $10-$15 for the breakfast bar, but $20 is way too much even for a 'resort' hotel.
Next time a conference I'm attending is in Charlotte, I'll be looking at other properties in close proximity to the conference center or staying further out and riding the train in.
