| - We recently leased our CT200H from Scottsdale Lexus. We can say, we wonder if we would do it again.
When we first went to the dealership, we spoke with Robert. He listened well to what we were looking to do in a couple months from then. He informed us of some ways they could work the deal in order for us to take advantage of the currant lease special; 27 months and 10k miles a year.
We went home to think about, called Robert and asked question about terms and monies. We worked out the details and gained clarity. We set an appointment to go in.
In the mean while, we go to Bell Lexus cause they have the color we really want. We get there, find a car, run numbers and they cant beat Scottsdale Lexus, by the down payment only. Run our credit and all.
We arrive. Robert is busy with other customers. Staff was friendly and made sure we were comfortable while we waited. After awhile they switched to another sales person, Tom. We then sat down with Tom and we again went over what brought us in. We expressed we wanted the internet special, 27 months 10k miles a year and after talking with Robert we know what monies we will need to pay and estimated car payment. He acted as if we were new to the dealership. Wanted longer term, more miles year...We said, no lease special. He goes to talk with Bull, come back with different deal then we came in for.... We said no, we came in for lease special. He goes back to the office with Bull... We are now running late for our next appointment, So we get up walk to office to express we are leaving. The first question from Bull, is if we could do less miles than 15k a year. .... I state, ummm okay, we came in for lease special. 27 months 10k miles a year..... So yes we will.
They will call us with the final numbers. They call. Tom says, we can do the payment at what you want, down payment what you want. We try to confirm with Bull, left message, Tom calls back and confirms its.
We go in to settle deal and get car.. We really don't want to work with Tom. He is already shown he doesn't listen and is not in our best interest. He sees us and invites us over to his desk and starts off with; Fill out this credit application with references too, while he does plate transfer, which we are keeping our car. My other half is signing papers, Tom lays out the deal paper and says, here is the payment you wanted, the miles you wanted and a term of 36 months. Don't sign, I say to my other half. Tom goes whats the problem. The term I say, Its suppose to be 27 months. He responded with that's not what you said. Yes, we came for lease special. He goes away to tell finance manager Tim and Bull. Comes back with bigger down payment. We asked to step outside to think. We agree NOT to do the deal. We come in go to Tom and tell him, sorry this isn't working for us. He then starts to get upset stating they have done what we ask. I say, no you haven't and you don't listen, I had to tell Bull the miles we wanted though you were told more than once. And I continued with a few other things he did not hear us on. Tim, intervened and was very sorry about it all. Said we will work the deal you want. We say fine, you have a chance. He gets Robert to help us from there on.
Tim comes out and shows us our credit scores and tells us they have to go off the lowest score, which makes our rate higher. Why I ask. This is the way Lexus/Toyota finance works. We don't know the rules, so we say okay.
We do drive away with our new Leased car with the term we wanted, down payment we want and a slightly higher car payment then we budgeted. And they did not take our old car, but paid towards the end of lease balance, NOT all of it, like they said they would. Its a $1000 short.
Robert told us right before we left, if we had questions to call. Well I have called and left a message. Been a month and no word back. In fact since we have leased the car, we have not heard a word from then. No mail, no calls....Nothing. We are surprised, we thought they would call and ask if we are liking the car.
We go to Toyota to deal with our other car. While working numbers, there finance manager shows us our credit scores. We say, yes we know you have to use the lowest score for Lexus/Toyota Finance. He looks at me with a odd look and says Who told you that? I say Scottsdale Lexus....He says no... They use the highest score and you have flawless payment history, so its no problem to get you a low rate. ..... Huh. ...We call Bell Lexus to see what they did .. these used our highest score.
So, though Scottsdale Lexus told us, Its rare to work with intelligent people who knows numbers. Though its nice, it makes our job easier.... Well they still found a way to get a deal with a higher rate. So they lied. We know we wont lease again from them. Amazing how ones earns loyal customers.
