| - I love ice cream and I'm not too picky, so I've never been to an ice cream shop that I didn't like. Until now. The format is basically ice cream truck soft serve, but with a lot of dips and toppings to chose from. I got a small cone with vanilla ice cream (the only flavour), Bailey's dip, and roasted pecans and smarties for toppings. The vanilla soft serve was fine, but the dip was fairly flavourless and weirdly salty. The toppings didn't add anything, and I didn't even eat half of the ice cream because it was so salty I didn't enjoy it. My biggest complaint, however, was with how unbelievably messy the whole thing was. I've eaten dipped soft serve before and know to expect some dripping, but this was ridiculous. I am not a messy eater at all, but I had ice cream running down my entire hand and dripping all over the ground underneath. I've now got ice cream in my hair, on my shorts, and on my bag. An inspection of the sidewalk around the benches told me that I'm not the only person who had this problem: the whole sidewalk and a good portion of the benches are covered with ice cream and toppings. I highly recommend choosing a cup instead of a cone, which my wife did. She didn't have a problem with messiness, but still ended up only eating half her ice cream because the dip and toppings ran out halfway through and she's not a big fan of plain vanilla. If you like ice cream truck quality ice cream, skip La Diperie and just get it from the truck.
All in all, we won't be coming back again.
