I was very disappointed with the labor and delivery nurse that cared for my daughter during the birth of my grand daughter today. My daughter went to the hospital at around 2am and delivered just before 10am so it was not a long drawn out labor and my daughter did beautifully. She listened to her body and did what she needed to. My daughter had times where she was most comfortable on her hands and knees and rocked through some of the contractions as she pushed. It helped bring the baby down and moved things along, but also gave her some relief and comfort. As my daughter was in this position, backside exposed, and in considerable pain during her contraction. The RN Lori turned with her back to my daughter at the end of the bed and rolled her eyes at the Nursery RN that was waiting for the baby to be delivered. I was appalled, embarrassed, and felt so hurt by this for my daughter. She did not see the RN do this and I didn't have the heart to tell my daughter because I didn't want her to feel self conscious since she was completely exposed and needed to focus on positive things rather than the inconsiderate unprofessionalism that was going on. She was also very distant with my daughter and seemed bothered by her but this specific issue was the one that was most bothersome to me. I am an RN and have been employed by Mercy Gilbert in the past and I know this is not part of their values or in any way what they expect from their employees.
