| - My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to grab lunch, and thought we'd give this place a try. I was expecting stereotypical feminine decoration in a place branded a "tea room," and I was not proven wrong. VERY flowery, full of Victorian "charm." It's not my thing, though I was not going to worry about it too much since I expected it. Even so, this place was pretty overwhelming and over-the-top. Even for someone who appreciates floral and Victorian decor, I imagine it would feel overdone and sort of... un-curated (?). It's like anything that was "floral," "Victorian," or just fit the owner's long list of ideas for decor got the go-ahead.
Anyway... the quiche was good. My girlfriend had the cranberry salad with hers, but it was like dried cranberries with jello. What happened to the salad part? Maybe that's the recipe for cranberry salad, but if so I think that's messed up. It would be better described as a dessert. Coffee was okay - nothing special - didn't try any tea.
Another thing I'll mention is that you cannot enter through the gift-shop, or at least you are doing Miss Molly's wrong if you do. There is a separate entrance leading to the hostess stand, where you are supposed to enter. This was not clearly marked as an entrance, though. The pass-through between the restaurant and gift-shop is the exit, as you pay your bill at the gift-shop counter, but this was not marked either. It would be easy to set a sign by the pass through indicating that it's the exit, and that the hostess could be found through the other entrance.
We saw the gift shop, which is clearly marked as Miss Molly's, and entered through the (unmarked) exit. The waitstaff all looked at us, standing there, without making a move to mention our mistake or seat us, despite the fact that we stood there like idiots for what felt like ten minutes (more like one or two). Eventually we sat at the table right next to the pass-through and a few minutes later, after more ignoring, we were addressed and notified that we must have come in through the exit, and moved to another table. Only then were we able to even see the hostess stand (the restaurant has two rooms/sections).
All things considered it was very awkward, stuffy, and uncomfortable, but the quiche was good.
