I have two parts to my very long review....
1) Service... I was thoroughly impressed with the vet and vet tech. Both were very nice and it was obvious they actually cared about my pets. I had my dog and cat with me and the vet tech took extra care of my cat since she is still a bit scared of my dog and she didn't like the new space. I really appreciated the fact they offered to let me borrow a cat carrier to transport my cat to and from the appt. I picked it up a few hours before my appt and that was great!
2) Price... I went in to have a newly adopted kitten spayed and my dogs teeth checked since she is destroying them by chewing through her cage from her separation anxiety. During the exam they were pretty careful to not quote me prices and the vet kept telling me that I will get a quote at the end. I chalked it up to her just not knowing the cost, which is no big deal.
At the end, the vet tech came back with printed quotes for the spaying for my cat and another one for the teeth cleaning and tooth extraction for my dog.
Cat spaying was $505.30... they included optional fees such as vaccines and microchipping. Still would be about $300+ for the spaying.
Dog teeth cleaning (with 2 teeth extraction) was $667.00... no optional fees.
I didn't know what the costs would be so I scheduled the cat spaying for Monday but waited on the teeth cleaning. I got home and told a friend (who has had several cats) who laughed at me and said I am being ripped off and that was outrageous. So I called a bunch of other vets and found spaying could be done for less than half that price and even under $50 at some clinics that offer "low fee services". While I don't want to go the route of the super low fee, I don't want to pay hundreds of extra dollars when not needed.
While I enjoyed the staff and clinic, I just can't afford to throw away so much money. Sucks too because I have made several donations to this clinic for vet work on rescued dogs for a local shelter and now I wonder why that shelter is using such an expensive vet. :-(
