| - HOUSEKEEPING WAS TRYING TO ENTER OUR ROOM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT FOR NO REASON. I THINK SOMEONE WAS TRYING TO ROB US.
We stayed here over Thanksgiving and it was ok except for a couple things that happened. We had a "superior room" in the ivory tower. Aside from the tacky decor and no bath tub (shower only) the room itself wasn't bad. It was clean which is a huge plus. The bed wasn't awful. The pillows were kinda flat but at least the linens were good.
Now the reasons for my low rating. First night we were there, Thursday, there was plumbing problems on our floor. The whole hallway smelled like crap. I actually gagged a couple times as I walked from the elevator to my room. In the night the toilet started gurgling and I could faintly smell the sewage smell in our room. So gross.
Second night, Friday, housekeeping starts knocking on our door and trying to enter around 11pm. We were asleep as we had a long drive in the morning and this woman woke us up knocking and trying to force the door open while saying "housekeeping." I said "No!" and she asks "Are you checking out tonight?" I said "No!" again. Then she's like "when are you checking out??" I told her "tomorrow" and she left. After that I couldn't go back to sleep. Why the hell was this lady trying to enter our room, WHICH WE HAD THE DO NOT DISTURB SIGN UP, in the middle of the night? Did she think we were on the casino floor and want to riffle through our stuff? Something seriously shady is going on with that...
I complained to the front desk and they removed one resort fee as a consolation. I wasn't looking for a discount I just want them to figure out what this lady is up to trying to barge in rooms in the middle of the night. The front desk girl said there is no reason for housekeeping to come unless we called for something which we clearly did not and she saw for herself there were no tickets in the system for our room.
I will say I thought the other staff was great. The valet, bellhop, registration girls, etc were nice and accommodating. I would leave at least 4 stars but the sewage smell and shady housekeeping person ruined it. I'm not sure I will return to the Palms. I could get over the plumbing stuff because it happens. I could have requested another room, I'm sure, but having people on staff trying to enter rooms at night that have the "do not disturb" sign up is a deal breaker. Thank goodness I was there because I had cash and valuables in the room.
