People are always talking about desserts that just melt in your mouth. What if I were to tell you that there's a pastry from Belgium that melts in your mouth and then gives you an orgasm. Such is the case with the Queen d'Amande. That's what I call em. Queen d'Amandes are hard to come by. The bake them fresh and there's usually five or six cheeky patrons from the neighbourhood that know when they're ready that conveniently swing by just at the right time. They run out by 6 or 7 pm, so come early.
They're made of three simple ingredients:
Flour
Butter
Sugar
The sugar is rendered into a syrup and then caramelizes as it bakes. It's cooked as a large round shaped bread cake, and then sliced up like a pizza.
Forget your diet, because I have a feeling they use more butter than actual flour to make these puppies and the result is positively incredible.
If you ever visit this city, you must try these. Forget any other patisserie. You need to try these. They're rare, and they're incredible.
