  • Barclay Square Apartments are located on Cambridge Street at Dumont Avenue. The location itself leaves alot to be desired as the neighborhood is very low-rent. Knowing this, you must accept that you are indeed moving into a neighborhood that isn't considered one of Las Vegas' best. The plus side to this location is that you're near EVERYTHING! The Boulevard Mall has everything you need in a major indoor shopping mall including a Macy's, Penny's, and any other shops. Nearby is a Von's grocery as well as a Target and a $99 Cent Only Store. You're also very close the UNLV campus, the county library and a few blocks from the Las Vegas Strip. The apartments themselves are more like condos. Washer and dryers are in the units and they're incredibly spacious. They also have a small fireplace, decent sized balcony/patio and ample storage. The property is secured using a gate that utilizes an electronic key. Parking is unassigned but plentiful. Some units offer garages as well as secure underground parking. That being said, the units and property itself are probably some of the best in the area for the price. The problem lies in the management and leasing agents. Being the smart shopper that I am, I went to take a look at a unit several weeks prior to when I was ready to make the commitment. I was given no pressure at the time and assured that they had units available when I was ready. Upon my return, I was greeted by different agent who showed me two units that weren't available. I'm told about a fabulous $99 move-in special that really sweetened the deal. I wasn't ready to commit to an apartment that only a "possibility" of being available by my desired move-in date. So I postpone for a week to commit. On my next (and decisive) return, I speak with the same agent who sadly has to decline her offer move-in offer. To her credit, she asked her supervisor, who happened to be the first woman I talked to but still to my demise. My guess is that the supervisor got upset because her associate was signing the deal. But their "new" move-in special was still reasonable and I accepted. Here's where the circus games begin.... I'm told they don't have anything available and it's suggested that I return in a few days after they've served their evictions. A bit leery, I ask if there's definitely going to be something available and I'm assured that there will be. So I come back yet again after a couple days to check out the situation. After paying for the credit check (two people) and with my holding deposit ready, she finds a unit that I'm told will be ready a week after my desired date. The unit wasn't my first choice, but comparable so I accept. I sign the lease agreement for a unit but my house mate would have to come in the morning to sign. I was "yessed" up and down and assured that there were no problems. To my surprise, I get a phone call at my work from not the leasing agent, but my house mate who was told that there was a problem. The unit they wanted to put me in wouldn't be available for nearly a month later. This was unacceptable and I was irate. I call the supervisor up and she tells me it was a mistake and that there's no units available. THIS IS DONE AFTER I PAID MY $100 HOLDING DEPOSIT AND SIGNED PAPERS!!!! She asks me to give her a call back in a couple hours so that she can "walk the property" to see what she has or doesn't have. I'm like - WTF?!? I called back several times without an answer until it was closing time. So then, I have to take time off work now to settle this situation (thus costing me even more money). I'm told that there's nothing they can do. They simply just don't have the units. I'm told that I now have to wait up to a month to get my holding deposit from their corporate office. Original *1 Star - Based on unorganized leasing agents, empty promises, older buildings in need of some repair. +*1 Star - Based on location, size of units, actual condominiums vs. apartments.
