After going to LaPomponnee for 12 years and receiving a number of just above average full colors, highlights, and cuts, I went in search of a new salon in Pittsburgh.
Finding Daquila Hair Color Studio on yelp I began to read all of the reviews. Seeing that there were no bad reviews (which tend to be the only kind on yelp) I was interested but skeptical.
I like to feel and look natural even though I color my hair, so Daquila offers balayage; this is an awesome french highlighting technique which Deborah and her associates at the studio have mastered. I have A LOT of hair and even though it takes a while to get it done Deborah always makes you feel at home and the natural sunlight the pours in through the domed skylight makes you feel more liberated instead of feeling held captive at the salon.
Deborah has done my hair for about 2 years now. I have been so incredibly happy with the results. Usually I hate the way my hair looks after I get it colored. After Deborah is finished I feel like the appointment was absolutely necessary. Deborah is an awesome woman too--intelligent and extremely well traveled. She loves animals and offers a discount for customers who donate a blanket or a gift of money to The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center. She and her staff are also committed to evolving with current trend and staying relevant and up to date, (sometimes bringing in friends of Deborah's from Paris to update or teach technique or style).
Bottom line--You will never get a bad color or cut here because Deborah actually LISTENS to what YOU want and also offers some helpful guidance as to what might look better. If she does offer a tip be sure to take it, you won't be sorry. What more can I say other than... I love this place. Make an appointment! She knows what she is doing.
