| - And so continues the argument in our house of which is more accurate, Yelp or Google Placex...
We ate here because the Google Places rating was excellent. Not a fantastic experience. Compared to the rest of the places we ate during our trip to Montreal, this place was one star material. Still, as unfair as it may be, I'm adding an extra one for the abundance of outdoor seating and the atmosphere, which was provided by the street performers in the area who provided tons of music and entertainment while we ate.
We ordered the nachos and were disappointed to see that they came with that gross, cheese-in-a-can stuff that no one really likes or even knows why it still sells. You know, that stuff that tastes like toxic waste and is always the criminal ingredient in bad cheese fries? Don't get me wrong, I'm no cheese snob, and there's nothing I love more than unwrapping some processed cheese to go with my KD, but come on people. IT'S NOT CHEESE.
Anyway, the spray on cheese ruined the nachos, and the poutine and sandwich were probably only 2.5 stars at best. Our server wasn't the nicest (he didn't do anything wrong, he just didn't seem to be in a particularly good mood) and when the food is so obviously on the awful side of average, a smile can go a long way.
Really disappointing. Don't be drawn in by the crowds of people sitting in the sun. They're not having a good time. They just look like it because they haven't gotten their food yet.
