Fishing licenses are required if you plan to drop a line within Nevada or Arizona and a trout stamp is required if you plan on fishing for them. You can purchase the necessary license and stamps near the marina or one of the bait shops or you could just do what I do and purchase it at a local Kmart or Walmart.
There are some cool hiking trails that are worth checking out, but keep in mind it gets up over 100 degrees out at the lake and during the summer is not the best time to hike there in my opinion. Instead shoot for between November and March when it's cooler and bring the backpack essentials.
Dogs are welcome however pay attention to the signs for each area because some parts do not allow it. Remember to clean up your trash so we can keep the area nice for all of us to enjoy! I saw far too much trash on my last visit which saddened me. Swimming is prohibited at all marinas and launch areas for obvious reasons. There are plenty of beaches and coves to post up, swim, picnic and have fun. Please keep in mind that there are never lifeguards on duty, so having life jackets is a must especially with kids in the water. One cool thing is they offer "life jacket loaners" to kids and adults for free at Boulder Beach and Cottonwood Cove and they just need to be returned at the end of the day. I have seen plenty of wildlife over the years around here, especially bighorn sheep which I have spotted the most while out on the boat fishing. The water is generally great to get in during the summer and never too cold and instead is refreshing on a hot summer day, but when I have been fishing by boat at Willow Beach the water is ice cold being near the dam even though there are some neat coves that you can pull into where you can get knee-deep in the water and it's comfortable and fun letting the kiddos play with the bluegill along the shore. There are many options out here for all ages on and off the lake.
