| - There are a LOT of nail places in Bloor west, and I've tried most of them. Perfect Nail Spa had recently become my go to. I liked their vibe, the front desk manager was always helpful, and they do a great shellac. They also have free wifi, and instead of piped in cheesy music, they play tv shows or movies on a few big screens around the joint. I thought my nails had finally found their home....
Recently however, I've been kinda disappointed with my less then 'perfect' experiences. They've been getting busy, which is great, but it's come at the expense of the service. My last shellac was done by a brand new staff member, and it was.... meh. Decent. The redeeming thing about that experience was that the manager told me that if I had any chips or problems to come back within 5 days and he'd have it fixed. I didn't avail myself to his offer because the manicure was 'good enough'. And truthfully, I was a little lazy.
The real issues showed up on my last mani/pedi, which was booked on a Friday, and the place was bumpin'. Everything was completed in 20 minutes (both services!) and I have to say that it was possibly the worst mani/pedi I've ever gotten. My cuticles were cut ragged, my feet were still rough, and the polish was haphazardly applied. You'll know what I mean when I say that it looked like a job I would have done at home when I was 17.
So here's the deal. Will I shellac here again? Probably. But I'll be booking my appointment for a Tuesday at around 11am and asking for an experienced staff member.
Will I mani/pedi here again. Probably not. Unless I'm desperate and again, I'll book for a Monday or Tuesday morning.
Will I ever come on a Friday or Saturday again? Nope.
Verdict: 2.5 stars.
A good place for shellac in you work from home and/or can get away on weekday mornings.
