| - I came back from a month-long vacation end of Feb 2017 and noticed that the carpet was black underneath an unused rabbit cage, in a room I hardly ever go to. And the stain and rabbit cage was in an open closet. All that time and in Jan, the roof had leaked around the AC duct and the water ran down the duct below the rabbit cage, and there the wet sat for 2 months. The carpet was all black with mold under the rabbit cage.
I got the roof jack redone, so I could know the roof won't leak onto the carpet again after I get it cleaned. If you want a good reasonable AC company, call JMAC. They took off AC, put new jack, and resealed and fixed a broken fan switch for $850 when other 5 yelp star AC companies wanted $1300 - $2500 just for the roof jack. Their repair did not leak, in the next rains. After the mold dried for several weeks I vacuumed it well, and a lot of the black lightened quite a bit, but carpet was still severely stained.
I called other highly rated carpet cleaners but none of them would come out and clean mold, because they said it comes back. They would only cut out the carpet and replace with new carpet and pad, for which they would charge $250 for their labor. But I did not have enough matching carpet.
But Rob said he would come out for $100, and he has mold cleaner called Milgicide TSI he could put on it. However Rob said he would not guarantee that the stain would not come back but he would "do his best". I said that is all I ask , and do not expect a guarantee.
He came out on March 10, 2017 and worked really hard, cleaning and cleaning, and cleaning and rubbing his stain removers into the bad spots on that small 2 x 3 area and some small spots near it.
Since the spot was so small only 2 x 3 feet, I asked if Rob would clean some other traffic areas in my house, which he was happy to do "so you can feel you got your money's worth" (his words, not mine, but he knew my thoughts).
Today, 4 months later, that 2 x 3 spot still looks clean. Not all the stains came out but it is better than cutting the carpet out, and I put the rabbit cage back on top when I was thoroughly dry, so you cannot see the remaining stains that would not come out. I think the mold would only come back if the carpet got wet again. He left me a bottle of carpet stain remover, which he says he gives to every customer.
I am happy with the result ! This is the first time I used Rob and he will always be my carpet cleaner from now on.
