| - As per the many people here, and I'm sure the people in the future and the people thinking about coming - get the groupon deal! With the groupon deal (which is aprx. $35/2 people for high tea - not including tax (which is about an extra $3-4 that you pay at the restaurant)), it's well worth it.
My friend and I came on a Thursday afternoon around 2 and make a reservation. If you've ever been to their Highway 7 location, it is SUPER tiny and crowded and typically the servers are quite rude there, but we had a totally different experience at this location. It's far more spacious and the people are far more lovely than at the other location. Location wise it's a little more difficult to pinpoint because it's in a fairly sketch looking plaza, but space wise, FAR better than the other location. We were a little late cause we got lost but the waitress was very gracious. We chose a seat, sampled aka smelled some teas, chose the ones we wanted and after about 15 minutes, teas and food were on our table ready to go into our bellies.
The 1st layer (aka third layer) of the high tea were salty snacks - 2 ham & cheese quiche, 1 2 shrimp and mango on crispy bread, 2 prosciutto wrapped with pepper and arugula, 2 smoked salmon and arugula on bread. The 2nd layer were 4 scones and 2 danishes w/ cream and jam and. The 3rd layer (the dessert layer) were 2 creme brulee, 2 mini slices of cake (ours were lychee and raspberry) and 2 scones (raspberry and salted caramel). Everything was actually of good quality for the most part, the scones were a little sweeter than anticipated, but the food overall was quite decent.
The ONLY reason I'm not giving this place a 4/5 star review is because I bought some macarons for my family when I was going home, I bought 16 macarons - which ARE pricey, $2.50 min. to $3+. only 4 of the macarons (so 2 flavours) were actually good. Everything else was underbaked, the filling was too oily or didn't collide well. It was a HUGE disappointment because the macarons that we had during the high tea were quite decent. What a shame!
