  • Our meal at La Cave in the Wynn hotel was by far the most outstanding dining experience we enjoyed during our extended weekend stay in the desert. After a number of other meals and experiences which fell short on the execution, I thought that La Cave did everything very well. Our server was prompt, friendly and informative. There was never a push to hurry any decision which gave us plenty of time to look over the "American tapas" menu. The cuisine is creative American, all served in small plates. It took us some time to come up with right combo of tastes and sizes. We agreed on 4 small plates - the rack of lamb chops, the pasta with broccolini, the mushroom grits and the 3 bean salad. All of the dishes were excellent. Of the 4, probably the salad and lamb were the biggest stand outs. The salad because this wasn't your picnic variety of 3 bean salad. Rather, the La Cave version had fresh green beans, fried garbanzo beans, grilled artichoke hearts in a delicious ice wine vinaigrette. Yum! The lamb was served hot, juicy and tasting of the grill. La Cave has an extensive wine list of bottles, glasses and 1/2 bottles - domestic and imports. We settled on a 1/2 bottle of a French white which complemented our meal well. The wine server was very knowledgable, kept our glasses full and spoke with us extensively about the dessert drink options. My wife tasted, and then ordered, a glass of Madeira and I had a fantastic Amaro. There were a handful of dessert options but we were plenty full and enjoying the after dinner drinks. The interior design of the restaurant is very eye-appealing. Despite the hard wood floors and background pop music, we found the noise level not to be a problem. The overall meal is pretty pricey but considering the excellent execution and location, it's not out of line for the experience. If we were closer, we'd be back for date night!
