| - This review is mainly for Dr. Timothy Tolan, who is a stellar doctor and surgeon. I've been seeing him off and on since 2008 when he had his own practice on Ft. Apache. I've had nasal allergies for years but things went crazy about 2.5 years ago when I ended up in a condo with mystery mold (likely in the walls). I developed chronic rhinosinusitis and was living on antibiotics and then they just stopped working. Dr. Tolan and I decided on surgery at that point and he got rid of the infection and I was able to breathe easier and my sense of smell came back, but then all I could smell was the mold! I am luckily staying elsewhere for now.
I am the type who does very poorly with surgery and everything went great, even the recovery. I didn't even need the post-op debridement and had almost no pain and I can't take narcotics. I had a few headaches the 2nd week and my nose was tender for some reason, but that was it. I did have major bleeding the first day, as expected, and was very lethargic until I started taking iron supplements. Everyone's experience is different, but I knew I was in good hands.
I will agree that it is very annoying that you can't just call and make an appointment and the front desk staff could at least greet you and I wish the office would rectify that. I also had some hiccups pre-op getting things organized with the medical assistant and didn't need the stress before surgery. Some days I have to wait an hour to see Dr. Tolan, but I will give him a pass as he's like a doctor I would have back home: well-educated, professional, and doesn't jump to surgery until he's exhausted all options. He has a pleasant personality and I had sinus surgery while awake as I get so sick from generals and he made sure I was doing okay while in the OR which was nice.
Thank you, Dr. Tolan, for being a great ENT and skilled surgeon.
