| - I parked in Oakland yesterday, the first time in years to attend a meeting at CGS in Wesley Posvar Hall, I was fortunate to get a space close. I am 69 years old and use a cane. When attempting to use the parking box or what ever they call it, it would not take my debit card, although I had plenty of funds in my checking account. Not having a credit card on me, I had no choice but to leave the car without paying anything, hoping that the parking meter attendant, seeing my two handicaps plaques, a Vietnam War bumper sticker, and my US Marine Corps sticker, I would get a break. No such luck after only 2 hours, I find a $40.00 ticket - robbery - I guess the meter person was not a veteran and NOT friendly to those of us handicapped.
