| - My husband is usually the one in our family who insists on buying the meat, but this time, I stopped in here as I happened to be in the area. We have never bought from this place in the past.
I love great deal and I do enjoy of outlet shopping, so I expected an outlet-type butcher in an industrial area. It was as I expected. Limited parking. Strong meat smell. No surprises.
What did surprise me was the back room where you actually purchase the meat products - everything is out in the open (no surprise), but very easily accessible to customers, which makes me wonder about the hygiene and cleanliness of the "back room." My 3-year old son, who was with me, was ready to grab any piece of meat - it was that easy to touch...and take? Am I being a little germaphobic and a little harsh? Maybe. It didn't seem right to me, though.
The staff, however, were helpful and quick to serve you. They only take cash.
I bought the Striploin Select-grade - it was advertised at 5pcs/Case Frozen, but the gentleman handed me a huge frozen chop that I have to cut on my own. He said that "was the one that's on sale". I couldn't really argue with him - it was good-sized and at $50 for a piece that weighed about the same as my 3-year old son, it was a great deal.
What remains to be seen is how it cooks and tastes.
I'd go back if I happen to be in the area, but I don't think I'd make a special trip there like I did today. If you love a good deal though, I think it's worth going. Be sure to get on their emailing list - weekly specials and coupons are sent regularly.
