| - Our favorite waiter left the restaurant about a year ago and since then, the service is really crappy to the point now where I have to update my review. Before he left, He told us that the other waiters felt like we were bad tippers and he was surprised to hear that because we always gave him a big tip. We didn't take offense to him telling us this because he knew that we use to wait tables before and our tip is solely based on the service we receive. He even backed us up and said that if they want a better tip from us- they have to learn how to give good service.
My update isn't about the food much because I still think the food is good and we visit this restaurant time to time just for it. Kudos to the chef! The bun bo hue is delicious!!
What I would like to express to the staff and management at this restaurant is that, if you expect your customers to tip well, you must first provide good service.
For example, if you drop off the food and never check back on your customers until they flag you down for the check and water, do you believe that you've earned your tip simply by taking an order and delivering the food? I know some waiters believe that there is justification for giving bad service if the customer is a bad tipper--but let me tell you, if this is your understanding of customer service, you may want to find another job.
I almost want to give the staff here a free lesson on how to be attentive to their customers and what good service is all about if they get butthurt over tipping.
As a waitress, I had customers who actually followed me restaurant to restaurant. As a customer, I enjoy getting to know the wait staff and try to be as easiest customer.
Now, yelp readers must be wondering how bad of a tipper my husband and I are if the wait staff labeled us cheap. For shitty service we still give 10% because we've waited tables before, however, our tipping is usually above 20%.
