| - After visiting nearly every preschool on our side of town (silverado ranch/green valley area), only one made it to the second interview, Rising Star. It's not that the others were bad, they just didn't have that special something we were looking for. Rising Star was one of our first stops and became the 'standard' in our eyes.
Upon our first visit to the school, we encountered the owner, Ms. Tina. Her passion and dedication came through right away. The school is charming. It is the right size to avoid my boys from getting lost in the shuffle as I fear would happen with a larger property. Ms. Tina also asked us as many questions as we asked her. That may not seem important to most, but that truly showed she wasn't looking to increase enrollment for the sake of collecting tuition. We continued looking at schools, but also found ourselves impressed by Ms. Tina's passion.
To say that my boys, three and five, love Rising Star is an understatement. They are constantly talking about what they learned throughout the day. Within the fist week, my oldest learned the months of the year. My walls are covered with their many projects. Better yet, sometimes their teachers put their work on the class wall for all to see. The pride in my sons' faces is priceless.
Every single day we get progress reports and pictures emailed to us. There are class parties, school pictures, a book fair, everything you associate with elementary school. This is exactly what we were looking for.
As a parent, my only caution is not to take my word for it. The reason Rising Star is a perfect fit for us is because it is and you may want something entirely different for your child. Visit as many schools as you can knowing exactly what is truly important to you. Rising Star values their students in a way we didn't see in any other of the schools we visited. And THAT is what was important to us.
