| - The standard Yelp star rating descriptors work out perfectly for this place: it's A-OK.
I've been on a thrifting kick lately, and this thrift store is right near my work so I thought I'd pop in on my lunch. As other reviews have stated, this place is pretty gigantic compared to other thrift stores I've been into. If you're used to Goodwill and the Salvation Army, that's about the only difference between them and VOA. It's as clean as you would expect a thrift store to be.
The pricing here really confuses me. Most things are appropriately priced, but other things are outrageously marked up. There was a dinnerware set that I was looking at that would have been a great thrift find, but each piece was individually priced for $1.99. Huh? I can go to Target and get brand new individual plates for the same price. I also saw a vintage typewriter that I know are valued at $300 being sold for $60. I'm not sure if the price was reflecting that it wasn't in working order, was priced out of ignorance, or was just a great value...
I didn't have enough time to check out the clothes really, but quickly browsed the skirts on my way out. They seemed to have mostly newer styles of clothing. I personally prefer vintage finds from thrift stores, but to another person that could be a huge plus for this location.
Overall, I walked out with a couple of neat coffee mugs for a buck. Nothing else really caught my eye, but it's hard to rate thrift stores on their selection since it's so subjective and cyclical. Either way, I'll definitely be dropping by from time to time since it's nearby.
