| - ugh, another disappointment with customer service at the Rio. The trip before this one, the guy at VIP checkin was very eager to help, gave me the number to call for any assistance, and later that day, I had a letter under my door about how he was happy to help, VIP assistance number, etc, etc.. Anyways, that trip, nothing went wrong so I didn't have to look for that number. However, this last trip was a disaster. Yes I did VIP checkin again, but didn't receive a number at the beginning, and the letter came the next day. Right after check-in, came to the room and the safe was already locked! The phone in the room took a while to figure out (no front desk or concierge button----you have to push a different button and get transferred or later I found out just push 0). Took two phone calls and 2-3 hours to get someone to open the safe.
The worst part of the trip was that I was checked out without me knowing!! I tried to use my reward credits/etc at the host to help cover my bill, but I was already checked out!!!! The very rude lady at checkout was no help. I explained that I didn't check out and wanted to know how it was possible that I was already checked-out??? I probably got the worst response... "DO YOU WANT TO CHECK BACK IN???" I tried to explain it again.....and got the exact same response from her. After figuring out that she wouldn't be of any help I just left and accepted the full price bill.
The resort fees seem to have gone up as well. And get this, even if they give you a room offer, you still need to pay them. Its not like that at most other places. Just a tip!
