  • Super shady!! I just wandered in during a day-long hunt for a new pre-owned vehicle. They were having a big sale, which is a joke, because every single time I've driven past in the two months since my visit, they've had some sort of sale going on. Tents, balloons, huge posters, etc. Basically all gimmicks. It bothered me that none of the vehicles had prices listed on the windows. Even after I started working with a sale person, he still wouldn't tell me the prices of anything. It was more like, "Tell me how much you want to pay and we'll see what we can do." I had done some serious number-crunching on my own, so I knew what I could afford and what I was willing to pay, so at other dealerships, I was only looking at vehicles within that range. I didn't feel comfortable with this from the get-go, but I thought, "Eh, let's see what happens." During my test drive, I found out the dealer I was working with wasn't even an employee of this dealership! He was basically a contractor who bounces around from dealership to dealership, helping out with their sales. It was a zoo inside, so I'm guessing many others were in the same position. So, when I said, "Okay, I'm interested in possibly purchasing this vehicle IF it falls within my price range," he went to talk to the finance guy, who offered me a payment around $100 more than I told them I wanted to pay. We "wheeled and dealed" a couple more times, but it was going nowhere. I knew I couldn't afford it and I wanted to leave. That's when they sent over a female manager or owner to try to appeal to me "woman to woman" and she kept telling me how great this vehicle was and why I should buy it. That's great, but it was not in my budget and you can't convince me otherwise. I was completely honest with them from the beginning, saying, "If this vehicle will be out of my price range, then let's end this right now. It's fine. No hard feelings." But they would.not.give.up. Typical shady used car dealership. After going lower a couple times (which wasn't the point...I knew it was way out of my budget anyway), the finance guy even tried to get me to commit to a deal before knowing what payment he was going to offer me! "If I do something crazy, and I don't even know yet what I'm going to do, will you buy this car today?" Please. I wasted probably a good two hours of my afternoon there and I should've just walked out right away. The only positive thing is that they have not contacted me at all to try to keep negotiating.
