  • My grandfather passed away in September of 2015. The burial was beautiful, the staff was wonderful to us, and the cemetery is gorgeous and well kept. Peggy was especially wonderful to my family. I had no idea who this woman was at first, but she was so kind to us all. The issue I have with this place is how they treat you AFTER the service. We have been passed around to THREE different people, all who do not communicate very well. My Grandmother and I began working on my Grandfathers bench in OCTOBER, and we were told the estimated date of the bench arriving would be April 2016, as the granite comes from India, then needs to go to LA. Totally understandable. In December of 2015 we began working with a woman named Sandy. We were at Mariposa on Power and Broadway for nearly FOUR HOURS designing this bench, not because we were indecisive, but because every time we would mention something, Sandy would proceed to talk about herself. As if this is about her. This is about MY family, and their final wishes. Not about how you and your husband are starting a diet or what vacation you are going on. A few months go on, and we notice we haven't heard anything back from anyone at Mariposa. Of course we reach out to them, and finally get a hold of Sandy. We ask why no one has contacted us, turns out they were calling the wrong phone number repeatedly. When they had called us on that phone number SEVERAL TIMES before and spoke to us no problem. They are just ignorant and can't write a number down properly. Sandy then asks us "your mothers hair is cut off in the picture you chose on your bench, is that how you wanted it?" WHY IN THE HELL WOULD ANYONE WANT THEIR HEAD CUT OFF IN A PICTURE?!!?!?!?! Then we get the initial proof back a couple months later in June 2016 (Already past the date we were told), with misspelled words of course, so we corrected it and tried to stay positive that it would be here before the anniversary of my Papas death. It is now August 2016 and my mother has been contacting Mariposa Gardens for the past 3 weeks trying to get a hold of Sandy to figure out when our bench will be here. She never returned my mothers call. Finally after 6 times she calls back. She then proceeds to tell my mom that our bench will be arriving with only one vase. We specifically said we wanted 2 vases. One on each side. My mom let her know that is not how we ordered it, and she proceeded to argue with my mother about it. Look, if there was a miscommunication I understand, but you do not argue with a grieving family member. Plain and simple. The customer is always right. She even had the audacity to say "It will be more money if you add another vase". I'm sorry, we have a nice life insurance policy. My family is not concerned about money thank you. We spare no expense at our loved ones final wishes. Maybe my Papas bench will be here on the two-year anniversary of his death. This is no way to treat a family, and no way to respect the deceased. This is why I will be cremated, so my family doesn't have to deal with morons like this.
