| - When we first arrived in Montreal, we knew we wanted a nice dinner (something worth dressing up for), but we just didn't know where. A quick google search led us to this restaurant which showed up on most top lists and so my boyfriend quickly gave them a call. Although he called at around 6pm, we were still able to get a reservation for 9pm of the same night.
Getting to the restaurant is quite simple, it's located near the Old Port and it has a nice exterior. We ordered some drinks -- a French martini for me as recommended by our excellent server! For appetizers we both decided to go for the piglet risotto which was extremely flavourful, rich and cooked just right (no soggy risotto for me!).
For our main courses my boyfriend chose the wagyu, while I opted for the lamb chops. Both were cooked to the right temperature and like the risotto, both dishes were very good! While I can't speak so much for the American wagyu as I only had a couple bites, I can tell you that the lamb chops were juicy and tender and that the other ingredients (especially the figs which had a nice cinnamon taste) really complimented the dish well.
We decided to share a dessert and we chose the chocolate and caramel tart. The presentation for this was beautiful, although we both found the contrast between the extremely sweet caramel and the dark chocolate ice cream a bit too much, we still enjoyed it.
I can't end this review without speaking about the service! It's impeccable, they were all very friendly and helpful when we needed suggestions. You wouldn't need to ask them to refill your water, they're just that attentive!
This restaurant was the perfect way to start our trip, a restaurant with great ambience and great food.
