  • Only giving 2 stars because of product quality and wait times. The people that work here are great, there's just not enough of them. I used to shop at another Von's location in the Summerlin area. I moved to this ghetto-- ..I mean neighborhood recently and let me tell you, the differences are huge. I'm thinking the people at the distribution centers are like "Oh this is going to THAT store?! Send them the half-rotten stuff". The produce selection is NOTHING LIKE the ones in the better neighborhoods. FAR less organic available and what is there, looks like it fell off the truck. The people that work that department do a good job of "dressing down" as they call it (I used to work at a different Von's location, so I know the industry a little), they make it look as nice as possible, and they're helpful and nice (per stringent company and union standards at a whopping $7.25 an hour, but I'll try not to get into how "corporate" and the unions treats their employees too much). It just looks like they're being SENT worse quality items since it's in a bad/cheap neighborhood. Don't believe me? Go try a location in a better neighborhood. Difference in the produce quality at least, is like night and day. Yet the prices are the same. That's pretty unfair and a pretty blatant way of saying they don't care about their less-well-off customers. This isn't a 1-time thing, it's every time, or I'd have not mentioned it. Keeping the lines down is apparently not a priority here, either (knowing Von's they won't allow them to hire more people, yet complain to the manager and employees that they can't juggle 20 things with their hands tied behind their backs). I've never seen lines this long (I'm talking on a daily basis here at ANY given time) at any other Von's. They rarely call people up from other departments to open new checkstands (when they do, it's usually one of the managers, who is a pretty cool guy). I don't think any of this is the fault of the employees at THAT store in particular, they all seem to be friendly and hard-working. It's just what you get when giant companies merge and cut so many corners to stuff the high-ranking officer's pockets, like most businesses in America these days. The customers and the people that do all the real work, suffer. I only continue to shop there because I can sometimes get Rockstars (I don't drink coffee) for like $1.15 if I add them on my "Just 4 You" account, which is an awesome price. As well as pretty darn good discounts on other items. It's gotten to the point where I'll generally shop elsewhere unless they can REALLY tempt me with some of their specials, though. Apparently they're merging with Albertson's pretty soon. Which, is probably going to make it even worse. We'll see.
