  • I am ashamed to admit that I have been to 5Church A LOT and have never written a review. I think mostly because I'm always so blissful after that I completely forget. The good news is, I can write about almost every meal - during any time of the day. Ahh, so much to write and so little time. 5C is one of those places that you not only live for in the city, it's one of those places that you want to show off when people from out of town come to visit you. There are just so many fun and funky things - the ceiling poetry (Art of War), the cloth wrapped chandeliers, the servers all in chuck taylors, the layered seating, and the people watching - wowza! 5C packs a punch in all the right places. First things first - make a reservation or prepare to have a nose or two turned up. It's not a snobby place, but it's busy and reservations are your friend here. The cocktails are made with care. I typically stick to an Old Fashion, but there is something for everyone - even the non-drinkers. Not to mention an espresso bar with homemade biscotti. Appetizers - the Gnocchi Parisienne (of the day) is an absolute must. You can share, but just know you are going to want to make love to this pasta. Each table is also given fresh bread made in- house (swoon). Entrees - it is impressive, and I mean REALLY impressive to make someone come back for Salmon. Their wasabi crusted salmon is (my mouth is watering as I type) outrageous. It is savory and buttery with the ever so smallest hint of heat from the wasabi baked in. The chef recommends the medium, but I usually do med-well (just my preference) and literally lick my plate clean. For everything I just said about the salmon, the Prime Beef Bolognese is better. This is hands down the best pasta I have had on the east coast. It's surprising, I know. But I'm Italian and therefore an official authority on the matter and I am telling you this bolognese is to die for. Like, last meal worthy stuff. All that said, it's not for the faint of heart - this is a big meal. Come hungry. Wondering what else to tack on to that last meal? The s'mores trifle. I literally cannot even... it is heaven in a baking dish. The strawberry poppy seed cake? Pass. The service has always been great. We like to sit at the bar, but on the occasions we have sat in the dining room we have had wonderful service. Alyssa is wonderful! 5C is killer and you won't regret it. Just don't get in my way - I would maul someone for that s'mores trifle. You've been warned. xoxo
