| - I'm not sure if I should begin by raving about the mission or the food of this restaurant. Long story short, they are a non-profit business that provides job training, meals, and a church service to the homeless and those in need. I'm not a super religious person, but helping people in need is so amazing, you can't help but support it. There are religious references throughout the restaurant, so if that bothers you, you've been given a heads up.
You need to make a reservation if you plan on going on the weekend. Hubs and I went on a Friday night, and waited about 20 minutes to sit at the bar which we didn't mind. We both got a glass of riesling which was delicious and reasonably priced. The menu is good, ol' southern comfort food, so we ordered the fried chicken plate. It comes with 3 sides of your choice for about $15 which is very reasonable. There are nicer, but more expensive items on the menu. The food was absolutely delicious. Hubs is typically a picky eater and he loved everything.
The atmosphere is romantic and comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. There is no private parking since it's in uptown, but there are garages and street parking nearby. We will definitely return in the future!
