| - At first when you walk in, it's exactly like every other bowling lane you've ever been to. We had a reservation, though, for a birthday party and were told that our lanes were "behind the curtain." I hadn't even noticed the curtain at first, but then I saw some other people peeking behind it. Anything that's cordoned off seems exciting and exclusive, and Playtime Bowl didn't disappoint.
On the other side of that curtain is what can only be described as high-class bowling (I realize this sounds like an oxymoron). The seating areas have all been redesigned so you are in more of a living room setup, with couches and low tables. There's lots of space to hang your jacket near your lane and there's a bar back there, too. Our party had arranged for some snacks and unlimited soft drinks, and the staff were all really friendly and accomodating. They had the whole black light thing going with music videos playing on big screens and sports on the televisions overhead.
The only thing I thought was a bit weird was that there were some dark-suit wearing bouncers working, with earpieces and everything. I wasn't totally sure what their purpose was -- were we supposed to feel like we were in a club? Do patrons normally get really unruly? They were all really friendly, too, just odd.
