| - I really like KK. The decor is wonderful, and I don't usually comment on decor--it's simple, tasteful, and genuine, just like the food. Breakfast biscuits are a bit pricey but Huge, with thick cut bacon. I had one phenomenal shrimp and grits dinner where every bite was perfection and then another meal where my fried chicken was really dry, so I'm not sure how consistent it is--time will tell. The bacon cornbread appetizer radiates butter, but it's delicious and worth the temporary waddle. If you are uptown and jonesing for meat and three, this is a good standby.
I want to power down a star for the bakery bread, but can't bring myself to because I really do like what they are trying to do. The baguettes are all sourdough (strange and taste specific), and one was already fairly stale the day I bought it. Still, I think they are working on getting the bakery wheels turning steadily, so that's okay. And I know if I had gone back and said it was a little old, they probably would have given me a fresh one without a fuss. Nice folks work here.
Update--this place has stayed interesting, but the addition of a massive cross in the center of the dining room is a bit much. It's pretty churchy vibe now, less like a quiet urban southern food today than it was.
