  • Like others, I found Advantage Home Services via a Living Social offer ($54 for up to 800 square feet of tile and grout cleaning).I did not have high expectations as our tile is old and needs to be replaced. While I didn't expect to see significant results, what we received was not good nor worth anywhere need the money spent for the offer. The first thing the tech said (I think he said his name was Matt) was our tile was sealed so anything they do won't make a big difference. This didn't sound right to me, however never having had someone come in to clean for us, I wanted to see how it looked afterward. They applied a soapy mixture to the larger areas. He took a pass at part of the kitchen floor and had me look at it. He said it wasn't a lot of difference, I feel he was honest about it and I agree with him I felt that part was clean. But after that it seemed like quality didn't care. He did move a throw rug in front of the patio doors but nothing else was moved to clean... including a baseball... he literally went around a baseball. The corners weren't touched, no edges were. I had reviewed the company website before purchasing the offer and the 2 FAQs I posted below from their site, was what I was counting on. Do I need to vacuum before a cleaning? A mild vacuuming or sweeping is recommended but our technicians can also perform a pre-vacuum as well. Our equipment is vacuuming the whole time during cleaning. Do you move furniture? Yes. We do not charge to move furniture. Our technicians will carefully move your furniture out of the way and then put it back after the cleaning. We will move smaller pieces of furniture but do not move large pieces such as pianos, china cabinets, beds, entertainment centers, etc. We do request that you remove small items off such as plants, lamps, keepsakes, etc There were 3 small cases of water stacked on the floor, we meant to move them but I was busy with another contractor there. But given the website response, it implies moving small things, but he didn't touch them. He went around them. Likewise for a handled basket. I saw this and moved them myself and asked if he'd take care of those spots now. He came back in with what looked like a regular cheap mop. I don't know what or if he did anything with it (floor still looks the same) but when I turned around not only was he gone, but he and the other tech had gotten in their van and left. They didn't say a word. Additionally, they left the front door open while they were working, when they left I found a black puddle behind the door... they never closed the door to clean the area behind it. My experience with Living Social, Groupon, KGB Deals, etc. has been small businesses offering these deals to create sustaining business with customers. They will thrive with repeat customers. That will never happen with the quality standard shown by Advantage Home Services. I picked their offer because they are located in my town and advertise a family run small business. It's a shame they don't focus on gaining customers but appear more like a "fly by night" operation. Hopefully they take these reviews to heart and fix their ways of business. Last comment: the other contractor who was there overheard the conversation when he arrived about the tile being sealed, she then told me that the line about our tile being sealed so it won't be visibly cleaner was "a bunch of crap". She then took one of her cleaners out and cleaned a tile and a side of grout. The difference was 100% difference! She really showed me just how lazy/sloppy the job had been done. Next time I'm calling her for floors.
