Have been coming to this race now for 6 years and have had season ticket for three or four years now... Definitely the way to go! No bench seating here, stadium seats so you do not feel crowded.
Saturday's Ixfinity race is less crowded and is also the day that we go to the neon garage, the passes are included with our season tickets. Sunday garage passes are available for an additional $50.00 but it tends to be more crowded since it is Sprint Cup racing day. The Neon garage allows you to see the cars being worked on from overhead or straight ahead through windows and sometimes the drivers will be standing outside their cars or sitting in them waiting to take more practice laps.
Last year (2014) saw a record breaking crowd show up for Sunday's race. They actually sold out the seats between turns 3 and 4 but with so many people it was too crowded and concessions started running low or out ( depending on what you were looking for), the lines for the restrooms were extremely long, ( but in defense of the track, there are many stalls available so the wait wasn't too bad and the traffic was horrendous.
This year I noticed that those seats were not occupied and without so many people others seemed more able to enjoy the race.
We sit in the Earnhardt Terrace so we generally start heading to the exit with about 12-15 laps left. We watch the race as we are making our way to the exit by turn one on the many monitors available and usually watch the final couple laps at the fence before heading down the hill to the exit gate. We were out of the track and back to The Orleans in about 30-40 minutes. But if you wait to long to exit you can be stuck in traffic for an hour or more. There are shuttles available from the hotels if you purchase race packages through them, but we like to have our own vehicle accessible.
I wish they would put a second race here at night, but until that happens I can't wait for next year!!!
See you race fans in California on March 22!!!
