| - It was late this Saturday night, and I was in desperate need of a doughnut. I was willing to settle for Winchell's or a grocery store doughnut, but something inside me said "no, you deserve better!". I did a Yelp search and was pleasantly surprised that this place had just opened up a few days before AND they were open until 10pm on a Saturday! [Yes, I know Pinkbox has crazy hours, but I'm not too big of a fan]. My husband and I made our way here, unsure of what to expect. Located conveniently next to the Sweet Tomatoes off Fort Apache/Flamingo, there seem to be a number of new businesses opening up here. I had no idea what to expect, luckily some pioneering Yelpers had come a few days before and laid the groundwork of what is sure to be a Vegas doughnut empire. Their doughnuts are cakey, as opposed to the yeast-style doughnuts you are most likely used to. They specialize in specializing! You choose your glazes and your toppings. You can be creative or go with their suggestions. My favorite by far was the OC Sand - vanilla glaze with cinnamon sugar. It reminds me of these tasty doughnuts at Pier 39 because both are perfectly fried and served hot and fresh. Aside from their delicious offerings, the staff was so patient, friendly, and informative. Seriously, tip them if you can - they deserve it! You can watch the magical process happen - from the frying to the glazing to the topping. The staff sent us on our merry way and echoed "See you tomorrow!". They were mostly right. The next day I desperately wanted to go back and started driving there at 5:37pm... only to remember they close at 5pm on Sundays. Womp Womp! My husband, who was desperately seeking doughnuts as well, swung by the oddly named store today and picked up a few for us. I didn't get to eat them as hot as I wanted to, but they were still worth the calories. They've earned our business for sure!
